THE ENIGMA OF ARTIFICE

S.L.’s obsession with flowers was sparked in early childhood by a pressing question about the origins of a flower’s natural beauty. This drove her to uncover the invisible ideas through which nature crafts the structures of its masterpieces. She sought to understand how the components of a natural object evolve into forms and to recreate that structural harmony by crafting artificial flowers that give tangible form to the invisible.

Bearing witness to the beauty and harmony found in nature is the guiding thread of S.L.’s professional dream.

The desire to understand the deep and invisible structure of things emerged through her educational journey in landscape architecture, photography, model making, and botany.

The striking discovery of the profession of “artificial florist” inspired her to take on a challenge: to solve the enigma of artifice by creating artificial flowers that elevate the intrinsic essence of the flower. These flowers are not mere replicas of those found in nature but instead celebrate their beauty, preserving it over time.

S.L. solves the enigma by continually discovering and recreating the artifice needed to preserve the perfection of flowers over time, while striving to infuse her creations with movement to evoke emotions.

Her logical-observational wisdom drives her to delve deeply into the logic of a flower’s structure, its movement, and its fragrance in the air. She dissects and examines plant structures through the lens of her technical and botanical knowledge, which integrates with her emotional connection and aesthetic engagement, fuelling her imagination.

The flower serves as an endless source of inspiration for her imagination, generating ideas nurtured by her upbringing in the open countryside of Picardy, surrounded by woods and cornfields. She was raised in a post-1968 family environment where the motto was “forbidden to forbid.”
